Boudreaux Does It Again

Poverty was the natural state of man for thousands of years. Now it is something that requires study?

At dinner last night, two college educated guys talked about how they wanted to rough it for a period of time. Admittedly, they wanted to make money while doing it, but it always worries me when smart people think poverty is a learning experience.

I do not know much. But I know I do not want to be poor.

question in light of your statement: what's more of a poverty related learning experience? 1. Being educated and poor, or 2. reading and talking about poverty.

I don't think poverty should be studied.

Neither experience can be learned from. No that isn't right. You can learn something, but you are not helping the poor by being poor. Roughing it will probably make you a better man, but it is not going to teach you anything about poverty except that you do not want to be poor.

It really is my favorite question:
Who did (and has done) more to alleviate poverty, Mother Teresa or Bill Gates?
